Just for Parents

Communication is key, and we want to stay in touch with you. After all, nothing is as important as your child's education. That is why we have people dedicated to providing information about your child's academic progress, attendance, and behavior. What's more, we have opened a Parent Center, so you can drop in anytime. At the center, we offer many resources for you to track the progress of your child and information about support services in case your child finds himself in crisis—or just wanting something to do after school. For your convenience, the Parent Center is located right inside the front door of our school. Our new parent coordinator, Vidal Aponte, will be happy to help! You may visit Mr. Aponte in the Parent Center or contact him via telephone or email.

MyNEHS Connect

Stay organized. Get creative. Be more productive. MyNEHS Connect provides access to Google-powered applications that allow students to create online reports, spreadsheets, and presentations. In addition, important files also may be stored in an online location that is reserved for each user. Students may also connect their accounts directly to Engrade, where they can receive emails regarding school events and important reminders, participate in online class discussions, and track their academic progress. Files may be accessed from school or home via a personal computer, mobile phone or tablet.

Help With Research

New Explorers High School students have access to a state-of-the-art library and multimedia center with more than 13,000 printed and digital volumes. What's more, the library offers an array of online offerings to help students complete research projects. Bring the power of the campus library straight to your desktop computer—at home or school.

Tools for Students

In addition to MyNEHS Connect and the library's online databases, New Explorers High School students can go to our Tools for Students Page for access to graphing and scientific calculators, links to helpful online dictionaries, and even the day's weather. Do you need a sweater or umbrella before you leave the house? Don't have a graphing calculator? No problem!

School Calendar

Never get left out of a student activity or be surprised by by an unexpected standardized test. Consult the online school calendar often to find out what's happening at New Explorers High School. You may also print it out and link important events to your personal calendar in MyNEHS Connect

Health Services for Students

Free medical and mental health services are available to students through an on-site health clinic. Students may receive these services during the school day if their parents have given permission for the clinic to treat them and by requesting a pass from a teacher or other staff member. The health clinic is operated on school premises under an agreement between the district and Montefiore School Health Program. A physician, nurse, and psychologist are on staff.

Our Mission

The mission of New Explorers High School is to foster the development of a well-rounded individual who is prepared to meet the challenges of the 21st Century. Our students will receive the rigorous academic instruction needed to prepare them for college and a career.

Principal's Message

Dare to be yourself. Dare to be a scholar. There's nothing shameful about getting good grades. Many students who have flunked or dropped out of school have missed out on an amazing opportunity to embark on a life-changing journey toward success and independence. Don't let that opportunity pass you by. Be more critical of the company you keep, read a book, get smart, stay in class, change your attitude toward school. School is cool, and being educated is nothing to be ashamed of. —Principal Hobson
